Does anyone have any information of locating a smallish, basic studio or artist space to work in that isn't expensive?
I've hit brick wall after wall trying to find anything and have had no success. Any information or help would be appreciated.

Re: Chicago Artist Space
Sun, February 5, 2006 - 7:22 AMSorry Matt. I've recently moved into a new house in the far north burbs (damn near WI) and been working out of my basement. Plan on turning it into a small 'studio' in the future, and I'm not aware of anything in northern lake county. I'll ask around though and let you know. -

Re: Chicago Artist Space
Sun, February 5, 2006 - 11:24 AMThanks. When I lived in NYC, there was an old warehouse that had been converted into bedroom sized units. Original unfinished hardwood floors, one window (or some not at all), one electrical plug on the unfinished and unpainted white mason walls and a door. That was it. A shared communal restroom at the end of the hall on the floor with a big sink to wash out brushes, etc.. and it was $150 a month. It was perfect: private, big enough, unadorned, convenient and inexpensive. I could go there, put on my ipod headphone and work away contentedly for hours without interruption or worry at any hour of the day or night.
I'm hopeful something along those lines exists in Chicago, there are so many artists here, I'd think there would have to be... but then Chicago constantly surprises me with things it doesn't have that I'd imagine it would.

Sun, March 12, 2006 - 7:55 PMYou've may well have thought of this, but I've seen postings for space regularly on CL.
East Pilsen? I've wandered through some small spaces there. If the location is OK, I have a friend down there I can ask.
